Ballard Power Systems brought in Ralph Robinett as SVP and Chief Operating Officer, replacing Lee Sweetland effective April 13.
Robinett was most recently COO at GAF Energy, where he ran manufacturing, supply chain, product deployment, and factory expansions for the solar roof business. He built an automated solar shingle plant and helped scale revenue.
He’s got 25+ years running operations across advanced tech and clean energy. Before GAF, he held senior roles at Celestica, Velodyne LiDAR, and SunPower—managing international manufacturing, automation strategy, and supply chain transformation.
Ballard makes zero-emission PEM fuel cells for buses, trucks, trains, marine vessels, and stationary power.
The appointment signals Ballard is doubling down on manufacturing execution as hydrogen and fuel cell markets mature.
