SatLeo Labs raises seed round

The fresh seed round of $2.2 million was led by Unicorn India Ventures ,The funding round also saw participation from existing backers like Merak Ventures, Java Capital and  IIMA-CIIE among others.

The company is building satellite based systems that capture both thermal and visible data from low earth orbit . Aimed at supporting sectors like defence, Agri , urban planning and climate monitoring .

The company had conducted pilots in Ahmedabad and Tumkuru to monitor urban heat islands and air pollution.

The company has achieved a major milestone by designing and delivering its first experimental thermal payload, TAPAS-1, for satellite integration within six months, reaching TRL-8 readiness and positioning the system for launch. 

The capital will be used to accelerate SatLeo’s flagship thermal satellite mission and further develop its AI-powered platform designed to deliver high-resolution thermal and visible data from low Earth orbit. The company aims to turn this data into actionable insights for sectors ranging from climate monitoring to urban planning
